ThePauling MedPod 720i was a newly created piece of medical equipment developed by the Weyland Corporation that met with FDA approval. It proved to be the most advanced unit to date that allowed users to diagnose, treat and perform a wide range of surgical procedures with ultra-fine laser incisions that were guided by 3D anatomical scanning. Such procedures included diagnosis, treatment of infection through concentrated antibiotic injections, basic wound repair, appendectomy, laparoscopic ablation and Caesarean section. Dozens of such units had been manufactured and deployed in the field by Weyland Industries for practical testing. Merideth Vickers had a personal MedPod in her room for use in emergencies.
